What is a TASK Party?
A TASK Party is.....
a collaborative, interactive improvisational art event. It allows people to get together and think creatively to intpreret and perform TASKS picked at random. It is a game that involves lots of different art materials, props and a spontaneous group of participants who are open to a continuous cycle of ideas, interpretations and unlimited possibilities.

It is a game that involves lots of different art materials, props and a spontaneous group of participants who are open to a continuous cycle of ideas, interpretations and unlimited possibilities.
At a TASK party there are basic rules that participants follow:
1. From the “TASK-box”, choose a random TASK to complete
2.Interpret, perform or create the TASK
2. Write a new task to deposit in the TASK-box.
3. Choose another TASK to complete.
4. Repeat – engage – collaborate – PLAY!
The result is environment filled with un-tapped creativity where participants’ tasks become absorbed into other people’s tasks. There is no failure and no judgment; no ownership, and no permanence. It is open-ended!
TASK in the classroom:
TASK as a tool for students to explore contemporary art and new ideas in a collaborative environment. It takes students "out of the box" in an intuitive and open-ended way. Trust, relationships and ingenuity are key elements - they are a part of the TASK creative process. Students focus on the process not the product, so there is no fear of failure. Also, what a wonderful re-use of recycled materials!
